Ms. Julie
Math & Language Arts
Ms.Julie with over 23 years of teaching experience and has served as a teacher at a prestigious private school in the New England area for over 15 years. Ms.Julie brings a passion for learning and a deep commitment to student success to every tutoring session. She has taught both Language Arts and Mathematics in public and independent school settings, and currently specializes in helping middle school students build strong math foundations. Ms.Julie is pursuing her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership, where she researches best practices in math instruction. Known for her patient, engaging approach, she empowers students to develop confidence, master challenging concepts, and discover the joy of learning. Outside the classroom, Ms.Julie enjoys reading, running, and spending time with her family.
Ms. Allison
Childhood Education & Literacy
I'm Mrs. Allison. I am so happy to be joining the Kmind team and that I get the opportunity to work with your child! I earned my degree in Education and hold certifications in Childhood Education for grades 1–6, as well as Literacy from Birth through 6th grade. With a passion for fostering young learners' academic and personal growth, I have had the privilege of teaching multiple grade levels, including 2nd, 4th, and 6th grade. Over the past ten years, I have gained valuable experience in creating engaging lesson plans, implementing differentiated instruction, and supporting students with diverse learning needs. My goal as an educator is to cultivate a positive and dynamic classroom environment where students feel motivated to explore, question, and develop a lifelong love for learning. Now in my tenth year of teaching, I remain committed to professional growth and continuously seek innovative strategies to enhance student success. I reside in Upstate, NY, with my husband and our two children. I love cooking, reading books with my children and playing with them outdoor.
Ms. Caitlin
General & Special Education
I have been in Public School Education for eight years now but have worked with children since high school. I am dual certified in General Education and Special Education from birth through 6th grade in the State of New York. I have taught various grade levels from K-6th grade in New York, and thoroughly enjoyed them all. Besides teaching, I help run an afterschool program for students from K-6th grade. My teaching philosophy is to provide the most high-quality educational resources and methods to students and ensure that evidence of growth and positive outcomes is foreseeable.
Ms. Sarah
Pre-School to High School Education
I am so excited for the amazing opportunity to work with you. I have worked in Education for over 15 years and have taught, Pre-School, Elementary School and High School. I graduated from Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York with my undergraduate degree. I received my Masters Degree from the University of Oneonta. I love spending my time with my family and friends. I love going to the beach and shopping. When I was in Elementary School, I would come home from school and beg my brother to play school with me.
Ms. Shannon
English & Reading Specialist
Shannon graduated from the University of Connecticut with a BA degree in Psychology. She received her elementary school teaching certificate for grades K- 6 from Western Connecticut State University. In addition, Shannon holds a Master's Degree in Reading. Shannon teaches various levels of English courses. She also teaches writing and grammar. Shannon was a 4th-grade teacher for several years and enjoys working with children. Education isn't just about what students learn, but about learning how to learn. Education is key to empowering today's youth, so they'll feel confident in their future careers, relationships, and duties as members of their community.
Ms. Christine
Director & Multi-Grade Educator
A dedicated educator with 20+ years experience who excels in guiding, nurturing, and effectively teaching students in an meaningful and effective manner. I have served as the director of ABODE for almost ten years, and have taught all grade levels from Kindergarten to 9th grade. Areas of expertise: phonics, reading fluency, reading comprehension, academic writing and creative writing. My philosophy of education is that all children are unique and must have a stimulating educational environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. It is my desire to create this type of atmosphere where students can meet their full potential.
Dr. Tammy
Teacher & Professor - Early Childhood Education
I am currently a teacher and adjunct professor in an urban school district. In my professor role, I have trained thousands of junior teachers in the State of New York. My focus is to participate in best practices that are evidence-based and encourage student learning and critical thinking. I am so excited to work with Kmind. I have been working at Kmind for four years! I look forward to working with your child and guiding them on their amazing educational journey! I graduated with my Bachelor in Psychology, my Master in Elementary Education, and my doctorate in Early Childhood Education (ECE). I have my certifications in ECE and Elementary. This is my 22nd year teaching in a public school district in upstate NY and my 13th year as a professor at a private college in upstate NY. Over the past 22 years, I have taught 2nd to 9th grade.
Ms. Katie
Elementary & Special Education
I live in Albany, New York. I am currently a teacher at an Elementary School in the City School District of Albany. I have been a teacher for over five years with experience in multiple grade-levels including, Pre-Kindergarten, 4th Grade, and 5th Grade. I received my undergraduate degree at The College at Brockport in Arts for Children and earned my teaching certification in both Elementary Education (1-6) and Special Education (1-6). I then received a Master of Science in Literacy (B-6) at the University at Albany. I am passionate about teaching children, growing professionally, working out, hiking with my dog, and spending time with my family.
Ms. Samantha
English Language Arts (Grades 5-12)
Ms. Samantha is a seasoned English Language Arts (ELA) educator with over 8 years of secondary teaching experience (grades 5–12). She holds a Secondary- Education English bachelor's (Siena College, 2021, Dean's List) and a master's, with expertise in English language art and literary instruction. As lead ELA teacher at NY High School, she crafts units on classical literature studies and more, while using tools like Google Classroom to boost engagement. Certifications: NYS ELA Certification (7–12) and NYS ELA Certification Extension (5–6). Ms. Samantha uses high expectations and tailored support to help students build critical thinking via ELA, fostering inclusive, collaborative learning environment.
