Class Structure:
- We only assign class to teachers who have the most teaching experience and knowledge in specific subject and grade level
- Each class has no more than 4 students
- Class will be delivered through Zoom meeting, and homework will be provided for each session
- For G1 and above classes, constructive feedback will be provided for all homework assignments and writing assignments
Readings Before Class:
- Stories are required to be read before class
- Books are chosen to promote and encourage rich discussion
- Chapter books (assigned chapters for each class)
Reading Skills:
At grade 5, students are no longer learning to read, they are reading to learn. The main focus of the reading skills is reading the book and reading comprehension. During the class students will be posed with both basic and critical thinking questions based on the reading. Students will have the opportunity to engage in an enriching conversation, provide their own ideas about the reading, and make inferences about the reading. This discussion about the book will ask them to go beyond the text to support critical thinking skills.
